York Vale is a very hard pale cream pinky sandstone in either tumbled finish or brushed sawn edges. This stone is perhaps the most appropriate for use as a genuine English flagstone floor. It is riven or split like a slate and so forms natural undulations. It is then tumbled to round off the edges and smooth the surface a little. Perfect for kitchens, utility, boot rooms, orangeries and the like.

Depending on which colour grout you use or if you seal prior to grouting or not, this can change subtly the overall colour of the floor as sandstones retain some of the grout in the face of the stone. Please consult for advice.

It is suitable for kitchens, bathrooms, and wall tiling and flooring of any nature.

Marble is much easier to maintain than many would have you believe. It is advisable not to use traditional bathroom cleaners and scourers, but instead a mild ph soap. There are specialist soaps available such as Easy Care but many supermarkets now supply a Marseilles type soap for use on natural materials such as limestone, marble and wood.
